If you need to buy something for the home or garden and shop at B&Q, then you may want to start shopping on a Wednesday from now on. The store’s Diamond Card gives a 10% discount to anyone aged over 60 in all locations when they shop on this day.

You can download the Diamond Card application from the B&Q website or pick one up in a shop. Just fill it in and take it to your local store, show them proof of age (passport, driving licence or bus pass) and they’ll open an account for you. This is free of charge and you can also arrange joint membership with your spouse if you like.

As ever there are some conditions to the discount deal that dictate when you won’t be able to get the percentage off. These are worth knowing before you use your card. You won’t, for example, get any money off from B&Q’s Surplus Stores or if you buy online. Cards also can’t be used to add the 10% discount on to other offers or promotions and you won’t get the money off if you are buying gift vouchers.

There are also limitations on what you can buy. So, for example, you won’t get the discount on showroom purchases, bathroom/kitchen/bedroom/conservatory products, delivery charges, accessories,  installations, carrier bags, Children in Need merchandise and household appliances. But, even with these conditions, 10% off all the other things you might buy in store could still be a really great saving!
